I would have to agree with you that Sweet Sweetback's Baadasssss Song is a top shelf film, really far ahead of everything that followed (although I will admit to liking many of these for what they are).

Another personal favorite of the blaxploitation genre is "Welcome Home Brother Charles" AKA "Soul Vengeance" (1975) by Jamaa Fanaka, which, if you haven't seen it, is really too extreme (and X-rated) to summarize. The You Tube clip does NOT do it justice.
