I am still a little unsure about the notion of the "deep Web." How do we know it exists if the webcrawlers are incapable of pulling this information to the surface web? Are there special "deep web" crawlers that search the dark recesses of the Web? How does one obtain access to these mysterious sites?

I hear rumors of Webcrawlers, little spider like thingies that scoot around deep within the Web looking to compile profiles on people. No doubt to identify them as terrorists or as potential suckers for the next marketing scam. But this may be an aspect of the "Deep Web" too.
Me? I'm sticking with my banking friends in Nigeria.
